Colorado eyaltinde yer alan FBI Denver Bölge Bürosu tarafından yapılan açıklamada, Carlton Reserve bölgesinde Petito'nun nişanlısı Laundrie'ye ait insan kalıntılarının yanında bulunan defterde yapılan inceleme sonucunda Laundrie'nin Petito'nun ölümünün sorumluluğunu üstlendiği yazılı ifadesinin ortaya çıktığı belirtildi.

What happened?
Petito went on a RV trip with his 23-year-old fiancee, Laundrie, in July last year and mysteriously disappeared. Laundrie returned to her Florida home on September 1, but had not contacted her fiancee's family or the police. After Petito's family reported missing on September 11, a wide-ranging search was launched across the United States. Petito's body was found in a forest in the state of Wyoming in August last year.
Laundrie, who was identified as the suspect in the lawsuit, refused to cooperate with the police and disappeared on September 13 last year. Human remains belonging to Laundrie, as well as personal items such as a backpack and notebook, were found by police in a park in Florida's Carlton Reserve in September last year.
