ABD'de yarın yapılacak olan başkanlık seçimleri öncesi başkent Washington DC'de bulunan Beyaz Saray'da güvenlik önlemleri arttırıldı. Federal yetkililer, seçim günü meydana gelebilecek olası protestolara karşı Beyaz Saray'ın etrafına tırmanılması imkansız çitler kuracak. Çitlere ek 250 Ulusal Muhafız da Beyaz Saray'a yönelik olası saldırılara engel olmak amacı ile bölgede görev alacak. Başkan Donald Trump'ı korumakla görevli Gizli Servis ise konuya ilişkin açıklama yapmadı.

Washington DC Metro Polis Şefi Peter Newsham, geçtiğimi ay İlçe Belediye Meclisini seçimlerden sonra başkentte sivil kargaşanın beklendiği konusunda uyarmıştı. Beyaz Saray yakınlarında bulunan pek çok işletme ise son birkaç gün içinde seçim gecesi ve sonrası yaşanacak olası protestolara karşı dükkanlarını korumaya aldı.

Washington DC Polis Vakfı Müdürü Patrick Burke, yaptığı açıklamada havadan gelebilecek saldırılara karşı polisin başkentin hava sahasında güvenliği sağlamak için istihbarat yetkilileriyle birlikte çalıştığını aktardı.
